A sunny day in Houston, TX from the Buffalo Bayou.

You see the mess
So far away
Assume it’ll never reach you
But then one day
It comes to say
Hello, I’m here to meet you

Your heart may feel
For a little while
The empathy appears
And then its gone
You’re back to dawn
Forgotten yesteryears

But what is real
Is lived by those
The mess on the other side
Without a home
No place to roam
Same dream when they close their eyes

So please remember
You may be well
But many may feel cursed
Be kind and show
Much love and know
The roles could be reversed

Introspection

Going within so I may start
To find the lessons for this heart
What brought me up and right back down
What made me smile and made me frown
What I’ve given too much of
What I’ve guarded from my love
So I may be a better me
I’ll go inside so I may see
The world created through these eyes
The change I need to make this time.

Where love may live

I am sorry child, I have brought you here
I know this place is scary
It seems it’s filled with so much hate
A burden for you to carry

I’ll hold your hand
To let you know
The world is good and kind
Do not let shadows
Scare your heart
Begin with the love inside

And when the world
Begins to weep
Let your light shine through
For a better world
Where love may live
Will also begin with you
