Enemies & Haters

Allow your perspective to see the ENEMY and the HATER as a TEACHER. Take their negative energy and alchemize it into GROWTH for yourself. We give our POWER away when we DEFINE them as someone who is against us. The enemy and hater only live within. Our perspective of every person we meet, is a reflection of ourselves. When we see others as teachers, we are able to apply the necessary knowledge, competence, and virtue to the parts of ourselves that needs to CONQUER the enemy and SILENCE the hater. Understand: opposition, hostility, hate, and criticism, is more about the internal world of the person holding these than it is about the person being opposed, hated, and criticized. WE are responsible for our reaction. React with your HIGHEST good in the driver’s seat.

POWER is YOURS. STUDENT.

We Continue To Fail

We continue to fail
We continue to fail decent moral standards
We fly our flags at half staff and mourn
Yet support the trigger
We scream loudly but do nothing in silence
We point to each other with blame
As bullets continue to fly
As bodies continue to drop
As futures continue to disappear
And as the sun rises tomorrow
Today will be a memory most of us forget
But some of us will forever remember
Because a heart felt close is gone
Because the sound of life being taken is deafening
But the rest of us will rest a while
Until another day arrives
To remind us all
Again
How we continue to fail

I AM YOU ARE

I am not here to teach you
Life will do that
I am not here to judge you
You will do that
I am not here to take from you
You will give that
I am here to see myself
In parts of you I discover
I am here to find myself
In parts of you I do not understand
I am here to heal myself
In parts of you I do not accept

You are not here to teach me
Life will do that
You are not here to judge me
I will do that
You are not here to take from me
I will give that
You are here to see yourself
In parts of me you discover
You are here to find yourself
In parts of me you do not understand
You are here to heal yourself
In parts of me you don’t accept

“Ask Yourself Often: Am I Observing the Situation Accurately or Am I Projecting How I Feel Onto What Is Happening?” – Yung Pueblo

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

For many of us, we see life through lenses adjusted by life experiences.

Often times, we judge situations, people, and ourselves holding the baggage we carry around every day. This baggage may include, naivety, innocence, love, acceptance, and courage.  On the contrary, it may also include hurt, rejection, disappointments, and fear. Depending on the situation, our observation is only as accurate as what we have unpacked to help observe it.

Approaching life subjectively (in a way that is influenced by our personal feelings, aka baggage), gives life an undertone influenced by what we decide to unpack. Projecting how we feel onto a situation, already defines the moment and the experience. We see life from and with OUR experience and self-consumption. Our projection makes the situation about ourselves first and what it actually is, dependent on that.

Approaching life objectively (in a way that is not influenced by personal feelings), gives life free rein to create. This allows for life to project itself onto US. It invites space for us to learn something new about life and ourselves. We see life with no experience. Life projecting onto us makes the situation about what it is creating, teaching, and giving.

It is not easy to observe situations objectively; we all have our opinions, our judgments, and our life-shaping experiences. However, it is possible to pay attention to what we are unpacking when we are observing a situation. And if we are unpacking the things that cause us to not feel the best about others and ourselves, the hope is to objectively observe this fact, and pack wisdom to guide us along for the next time.

Words of the Hero: “I Am My Fate” – Marty Rubin

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

Circumstances may arise that will shake our world. These circumstances will be the earthquakes of our lives. They will come without warning and will wobble our world off of its axis. Some quakes, will shatter our lives so badly, we will have to rebuild. Some quakes, will shake us into realizations we may need in order to continue on living the life we intend to. We will be unprepared. We will be surprised.

In the unpreparedness, we may allow defeat to make a home inside of us. The reality of rebuilding after a crushing circumstance can seem impossible. It may send us into the abyss of seeing only the problem, completely blind to any solution and we will forget how to find our way out of this abyss.

In the surprise, we may allow fear to drive our ambition. The shock to our system of unforeseen circumstances may cause some anxiety in taking progressive steps toward our desired destination. We may rather be comfortable with fear paralyzing our efforts and standing still than risk taking steps forward.

However, circumstances are not presented to impede our stride towards the goal. They are presented to remind us of our capabilities, to pull us out of the comfort zone of the ordinary. To whisper to us to call upon the hero that is braver than any unexpected or overpowering circumstance, ourselves. We are the hammer in the rebuilding and the driver towards our destination. We are the heroes of our stories. We are the solution. We are the outcome. It is up to us. We can lay down in defeat, or get back up.

A sunny day in Houston, TX from the Buffalo Bayou.

You see the mess
So far away
Assume it’ll never reach you
But then one day
It comes to say
Hello, I’m here to meet you

Your heart may feel
For a little while
The empathy appears
And then its gone
You’re back to dawn
Forgotten yesteryears

But what is real
Is lived by those
The mess on the other side
Without a home
No place to roam
Same dream when they close their eyes

So please remember
You may be well
But many may feel cursed
Be kind and show
Much love and know
The roles could be reversed
