I AM YOU ARE

I am not here to teach you
Life will do that
I am not here to judge you
You will do that
I am not here to take from you
You will give that
I am here to see myself
In parts of you I discover
I am here to find myself
In parts of you I do not understand
I am here to heal myself
In parts of you I do not accept

You are not here to teach me
Life will do that
You are not here to judge me
I will do that
You are not here to take from me
I will give that
You are here to see yourself
In parts of me you discover
You are here to find yourself
In parts of me you do not understand
You are here to heal yourself
In parts of me you don’t accept

Fleeting

Here’s the thing….
The feeling is fleeting.
That darkness we fall to.
Keeping us.
It’s not.
Make it another minute.
Let go.
So we may realize
The sun will set to give way to another sunrise.
Every day, Every time.
The feeling is fleeting.
It will come….and then it will go.
Just make it another minute.

“When You Blame Others, You Give up Your Power to Change” – Robert Anthony

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

Just as our decisions will impact at least one person, we may be that one person another’s decision may impact. None of us are immune to the possible consequences of another’s reckless choice. However, we ourselves have a choice in how we react and what we take away from someone’s wrongdoing or indirect effect.

There is a time in our lives when we seem powerless. When we are children and we are at the mercy of our parents or caretakers. When we rely on them for security and compassion. When we are trusting of their care and love. We are vulnerable and are deserving of a safe and loving environment. Unfortunately, many of us are aware of, or are products of, circumstances where everything is needed but never provided. Many of us bear deep wounds that have yet to heal and scars that tell unbearable stories – but here we are. Even wounded and scarred, we are here; holding the responsibility of never doing the things that hurt us, to someone else.

Yes, the responsibility is now ours. To take everything that has been given to us and to alchemize it to better. To refuse, under any circumstance, to transfer our pain to someone else. To understand, when we continue to look for another to blame, the finger that points at them is also sending our power in that direction.

There are experiences that are painful and may have hardened our hearts, but those experiences will dictate our lives if we do not stand up to them and remind them, “You were a paragraph in my life. A bridge into another chapter. You are not the story itself. The only power I am allowing you to have is the power to propel me into change. A change for the better.”

“Dearly Beloved, We Are Gathered Here Today To Get through This Thing Called Life” – Prince

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

Hello, Life. However we want to define it. We are here. Sharing this experience. Gifted with the sun, the moon, and everything in between. With the opportunity to swim in oceans and recognize the way it tastes in our own tears.

With the chance of feeling what our eyes see in our hearts and seeing it painted on clouds at sunset.

With the complexities of how the brain works and the wonder in a child’s eyes when they take their first steps.

An experience we have been granted, mirrored when we look up at the night sky into a dark blue blanket with glistening specks of energy. Energy that creates, moves, gives, provides, returns.

This is Life. However we want to define it. A present for us to unwrap, admire, enjoy, and be grateful for.

“Validation Is For Parking” – Austin Kleon

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

“Tell me who I am. Tell me what I’m worth.” If WE ARE not the ones asking this to ourselves, then we are asking the wrong person. What others know about us is what we choose to share…filtered through their own perception of life. Frankly, the validity others provide for us has nothing to do with us. It has all to do with how THEY see themselves and their world. Why be so consumed with seeking others to validate our existence?

If we pinch ourselves, we feel it. If we look into a mirror, we see a reflection. If we drink a hot cup of coffee, we taste the warmth and flavor of a beverage. We exist. We are real. There are many things outside of another person’s validation that reminds us we are here. A “like,” a retweet, a “heart,” a “share,” or a comment, are contributions that serve as reminders to each other that what we share on these platforms, resonates with another’s thinking and perspective. It is a bias opinion and bias opinions are all there is.

Validation is for parking. That is where we should seek it. In other aspects of our lives, we need to learn how to embrace ourselves, learn how to live our lives without asking for another’s permission or acceptance. It is our life. Our journey. WE tell others who we are. WE show others what our worth is. And if we are confident enough in who we are and our worth, then telling others won’t be necessary.

Hello, Sunrise.

Hello, sunrise.
Thank you for showing up again.
I’ve waited all night long for you.
Although, I know the morning will come, I always hope the night rushes to meet you.
Because when it does, it reminds me my day is here and I can choose to live as you do,
illuminating the entire sky.
