Fleeting

Here’s the thing….
The feeling is fleeting.
That darkness we fall to.
Keeping us.
It’s not.
Make it another minute.
Let go.
So we may realize
The sun will set to give way to another sunrise.
Every day, Every time.
The feeling is fleeting.
It will come….and then it will go.
Just make it another minute.

Fight

Between your ears, resides a place
A place where demons come to play
To pull you in to the abyss
Where only darkness seems to exist

In this darkness the voice speaks loud
Curses the light, invites in clouds
It brings in guilt, applauds the shame
Makes you feel small, calls you by name

There are many places you’ll try to hide
From this voice that lives inside
You’ll try to run away from this place
The place where demons come to play

And sometimes “friends” will come to your aid
Only to turn on you the next day
Leaving you there to pick yourself up
With empty bottles and a half poured cup

What if I told you it’s not real
How that voice tries to make you feel
What if I told you, demons die
When you look them right in the eyes

What if I told you in that place
There is a soul, it has your face
What if I told you, you possess
the power to bring this voice to rest

What I am telling you is true
The light is waiting to find you
No need to hide or run away
Open your eyes, turn night to day

So in this place, between your ears
There are no demons for you to fear
They are not real, they are not you
What that voice says is all untrue.

But if you dive and find yourself there
Breathe in courage, breathe out despair
Open your eyes, you’ll see the light
You’ll see your soul, your heart, your might.

Love yourself and go to war
With all the things invading your shores
Fight for your heart, fight for your life
Fight for the gift of being alive.

Back To Divine

image
I’d like to think your soul was so pure
That this world’s pain was too much to endure
And so you decided it was not your time
You left my body and went back to divine
I am grateful for the shimmer of light that was you
I am grateful you chose my love to come to.

My beautiful boy

I see your need to be accepted
I see your fear of being rejected
I see your thoughts that cause you tears
I see your belief you’re not good enough to be here.

But know my boy, you are loved
You are a beautiful gift from above.

I am here to hold your hand
I am here to be your friend
I am here to wipe those tears
I am here to expel those fears
I am here to shine your light
So you can see your reflection’s might

Look inside, your heart is gold
Because you, my boy, are one beautiful soul.

Lost

In finding your way, you will get lost.
With scenic routes and bridges to cross,
Some days it’ll shine, some days it’ll rain.
Some days you’ll feel joy, some days you’ll feel pain;
But once you realize you’re no longer bound,
it’s in the lost, you will be found

A place in the world

Damascus, Syria

Because we don’t choose our place of birth

Some are born in hell on earth

Seeking  a place to belong

A place where they can sing their beautiful song

In hopes that one will take a listen

And hear the message in each note’s presence.

The message of love, the message of fear

The message of hoping to find a home here

It’s in that seeking one has to wonder

Why someone’s life is more of value than another

Where the death of one is humanistic

But a death of many is just statistic

And in the hopes to find this home

They leave behind all they’ve ever known

And trek along with a sea of souls

In search of safer dreams and goals

But the journey to freedom is met with resistance

Invisible borders challenge persistence

But the fear of returning to what is hell

Makes the journey to freedom something comforting to dwell.

For those born in better lands

Reach out and give a helping hand

Because we don’t choose our place of birth

It could have been you, born in hell on earth.
