I Do Not Stand Alone

img_2034

I do not stand alone
I stand with all that is behind me
I stand with what is yet to come
I stand with how they have defined me
I stand with all that I have won
I stand with strength that I have earned
I stand with love I have received
I stand with faith that I have kept
I stand with what I have believed
I stand with heart
I stand with soul
I stand with what it is I AM
I do not stand alone

“What the Caterpillar Calls the End, the Rest of the World Calls a Butterfly” – Lao Tzu

A final piece Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life .

Evolving. A seed becomes a tree. The ocean becomes rain. We become a heartbeat. It all begins, ends, and evolves into another life of its own.

Once a seed breaks through darkness, it reaches for the light and grows.

Once the ocean welcomes the sunrise, it lifts itself towards the light and celebrates the meeting of air and water.

Once the mother labors, the heartbeat is born into the light to grace it with its presence.

On the other side of darkness, lives the light. On the other side of an ending, lives a new beginning. And whatever WE call the end, may very well be a beautiful evolving into a new beginning.

“I Promise If You Keep Searching for Everything Beautiful in This World, You Will Eventually Become It” – Tyler Kent White

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

When was the last time your eyes witnessed the sunrise? When was the last time your eyes witnessed the sunset? Or the grateful green the grass exudes after a summer rain? Or the full moon illuminating passing clouds? When was the last time your eyes witnessed beautiful?

It’s here, beautiful is here. Even in darkness, we can close our eyes and search our memories for beautiful. The smile of the person we love, the bloom of a rose, the joy of gratitude in being alive.

And the most incredible gift we receive by seeing the beautiful in this world, is sharing that vision with others and giving them the hope the world can be beautiful for them as well.

“Speak Only If It Improves Upon the Silence” – Gandhi

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

In silence, some of our minds are loud. Many of us are rummaging through all the clutter that pollutes our train of thought and often times, we reveal through oral dictation, the very polluted thoughts we have; from biased opinions, to judgments, and uneducated guesses, to rotten remarks. Silence has had no choice but to be invaded by the unfiltered thinking cap of our brain and the lack of consideration of our ego; an off-key composition.

Our words are our responsibility. It is our music. What we say and what we write, shapes our ability to impact our world. The way we speak to people, the way we speak to ourselves impacts the energy we are sharing with one another. We are directly accountable for how we make a person, a discussion, and a room full of people feel after we have disrupted the silence living there before we shared our thoughts.

A polluted mind cannot speak well into the silence. It needs to sit with it, allowing the silence to aid it in clearing the air. To introduce notes to complete a lovely tune. Once the air is clear, silence will welcome the words that will fill the air with the melody of our song. Please make it one worth singing, followed by a standing ovation.

“Each Moment Has an Unrealized Dimension of Beauty That Only Your Perspective Can Liberate” – Bryant McGill

Written for and Published in The Seeds 4 Life.

“Live in the moment…” they always say – but for many of us, this action is fleeting. We become conscious of this for a little while and then fall back to our daydreams and our thoughts of yesterdays.

Bouncing from our hopes for the future to the memories of the past.  This is our perspective.

As we daydream, however, there exists a place waiting to be seen. It’s sitting in the blind spot of our anxieties. The anxieties about what we have planned for tomorrow and the mistakes from yesterday we do not want to repeat.

This place is a place of realization, a place of peace, a place free of the illusion of what could be and what was. This place is each present moment – the awareness of what IS.

How beautiful to be aware of what IS.

To be breathing, to be alive, to be conscious. To understand both yesterday and tomorrow only exists as an idea in our minds. To be able to experience what IS without having to dig it up in a memory or to picture it in a daydream of the future.

It is here, it is now, it is waiting to be seen and liberated. Open your eyes and greet this gracious reality. It is always there ready to be admired, embraced, and realized.

Distractions

img_5345

We give our energy to trivial things
How we look, what people think
Worrying about the coming days
Failing to fill the present with praise
Lost in thoughts while roses bloom
Escaping sunshine in search of gloom
Loving people who hurt our hearts
Mistreating those who accept those parts
These distractions are undeserving
Of any more time you have been serving
Say farewell, take love, and go
Rest your mind, let energy flow
